(More customer reviews)I was excited about sealing all of my big, bulky articles in these great watertight, bug-proof, space-saving space bags. Unfortunately, I discovered that the bags do not hold their vacuum seal very well. The bags leak air, and so I would assume that they probably aren't waterproof either. The garments that I sealed in the bags did remain "squished" to an extent, so they do take up less space, but they certainly don't stay as compact as they look in the picture on the box.
Using the vacuum to suck the air out was relatively easy for me (it took longer than I expected, but the "patented one-way valve" seemed to work well initially.) I'm not sure if the leaking is occurring from the valve or from the Ziploc-type seal at the top of the bag. Since two of the bags did not seal properly the first time I closed them, I'm inclined to believe it's the latter.
One final note. . .anything you seal in these bags is going to end up extremely wrinkled, so don't expect to be able to "suck, pack, and wear."
