(More customer reviews)I have gone through several dishwashers over the years, from GE, KitchenAid, and in 2005 a top-of-the-line stainless steel LG during a remodel. The LG was loud, even though it was advertised as quiet. Service people said it was normal. It washed OK, though sometimes required multiple cycles. The dryer failed once at 2 years. Finally, in late 2009, the LG stopped washing altogether. That was the last straw. I started looking for a new dishwasher.
I am very happy with my new SHE6805UC. I have an open floor plan and it was very important for me to have a quiet DW. I eat in the dine-in area of the kitchen, I don't have a dining room in my townhouse. Now I can wash dishes during a meal without needing to raise my voice, as with the LG.
I also have a home theater room directly connected to the kitchen. Sometimes I could hear the LG DW before. Now there is absolutely no way to tell it's running with the Bosch.
I also love the built-in water softener. Glasses always come out sparkling clean, which they never did before. I use inexpensive Morton coarse kosher salt that I find at my local grocery store (safeway). It works great.
The drying is also much better than any other DW I used before. Even plastics usually come out dry.
The 3rd top rack is also invaluable to wash long utensils such as long knives that do not fit in the standard cutlery rack at the bottom, and would get stuck in the dishwasher arms, preventing them from rotating.
